2024 annual dues are $650 for marching band and $800 for color guard. Please choose whether to pay the full amount at once, or set up scheduled monthly payments for each of your students.

General POLICIES

  • Preparation. Band members are expected to be at the right place at the right time with all necessary equipment, and fully participate in all rehearsals. Students are expected to practice their music at home.
  • Behavior Guidelines. Band members are expected to exemplify a positive band culture by treating everyone (fellow band members, staff, and anyone interacting with our program) with respect and integrity. All are welcome in the Lakeside Viking Band, and a positive, welcoming culture is essential to that.
  • On Time Drop Off/Arrival and Pickup. Students are expected to arrive on time and remain until dismissal, unless previously arranged with Dr. Fairchild. All students must be picked up within 30 minutes of the end of each event. Rehearsal times are when we start and end rehearsals. Students need a little time before and after to set up/pack up. Hint to Freshmen: If you are on time, you are considered late. If you are early, you are considered on time!
  • Supervision and DCSD behavior policies. Every precaution will be taken to ensure adequate supervision. All rules of conduct were written with the safety of your student foremost in mind. Please stress this in discussing band camp with your students. This is considered a school function and school regulations apply. All students must adhere to DeKalb County School District code of conduct policies during all band events.
  • Right of Dismissal for after school events. The Band Directors reserve the right to dismiss and send home any student who disobeys the rules, or whose general conduct and attitude towards the band and its participants is determined to be detrimental to the rest of the group. This applies to class rehearsals happening outside of school hours, In such cases, parents must pick up students from the camp location immediately upon dismissal.
  • Attendance. Excessive and/or unexcused absences or tardies may result in a performer being held out of a performance due to inadequate preparation or dismissed from the activity entirely. All absences must be communicated to the directors in writing by a parent or guardian and approved in advance by the directors.
  • Equipment. If possible, students should have their own instrument to play.
    • Woodwind and Brass: The band has a limited supply of instruments that can be checked out and used by students, so school instruments are prioritized on need. Students that need to check out a woodwind or brass instrument will be charged a $25 rental fee, which is a DCSD county policy. Marching-only instruments such as mellophones, marching baritones, and sousaphones are provided by the band program for check-out without a fee.
    • Percussion: All percussionists must have a stick bag with the equipment listed in this document. Class level is listed in the tabs at the bottom, and there are links to purchase all equipment.

  • MUSIC BINDER (for show music) and FLIP FOLDER (for stands music)
