INSTRUMENT DAYS

There are special clinics all across the state for many instruments. These clinics often feature world-renown soloists, university professors, vendors with great products for each instrument, and students from across the area who play the same instrument. Usually students balance playing in a large choir of their instrument (which is a great experience) with attending lectures and demonstrations on their instrument. This list is not complete as some of these clinics are still in the planning stage, but I STRONGLY encourage everyone to attend one of these clinics.

Flute - There are two in the city:

The Atlanta Flute Club also hosts a Flute Fair, which is usually held at a church. Information has not been updated yet.  https://www.atlantafluteclub.org/

Trumpet - The Atlanta Trumpet Festival - Nov 14, 2026. This is a fantastic event that I was associated with for over twenty years. It became the template that many of the other festivals in this list followed in the years after it was founded. The event is usually at Lakeside, but will be at a different location nearby, as the organizers want to keep it close.

Trombone - Atlanta Trombone Day - April 10, 2027 is at Georgia State University. It will feature Jennifer Wharton, who is a NYC-based freelancer and recording artist.

Euphonium and Tuba - The closest thing we currently have is the International Euphonium Tuba Festival (IET) at Emory University in the Summer. Next dates are June 20-27, 2027.

Also, I'd strongly encourage students to participate in TubaChristmas, a fantastic event where euphonium and tuba players perform holiday music each year. I did this event in high school, and some of our students do this each year.

Percussion - There isn't a percussion day in Atlanta (yet), but there is an invitational for percussion ensembles at Lassiter High School that anyone can attend: https://www.lassiterbands.org/symposium
